System
Status
430 errors
February 04,
2008-12:03pm--SSL is now working fine. However, we are having
issues where some users are getting 430 errors (not tied directly to
SSL). We are working on this issue and we will provide an
update once we know more (this could take a few days). Sorry for the
temporary inconvenience.
Adding
Additional Network Capacity
January 30,
2008-1:49pm--We will be adding additional network capacity on Friday
(02/01/2008) between the hours of 4am and 12pm Eastern. During the
maintenance window, customers may experience slower than normal
download speeds. We do apologize for this inconvenience and will
work to make the impact as minimal as possible. Traffic will
reroute during this time, but there should not be an outage.

400 / 502 / 10061 Connection
Issues
January 13,
2008-8:19am--We are currently having issues with the fiber channel
hardware. We are working diligently to correct this problem. Until
corrected you will experience SSL errors, inability to connect or
502 errors if connected. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience.
The problem has
been resolved.
400 / 502 / 10061 Connection
Issues
November 30,
2007-2:53pm--We have corrected the connection issues which have been
present on the farm during the recent weeks. The upgrades to fix
this were performed today around 1pm EST. If you are still seeing
problems, please send an e-mail to support outlining your issues,
newsreader, and IP address.
SSL Connection / Slowness Issues
November 30,
2007-2:54pm--We will be upgrading the SSL platform over the next 7
days. This should alleviate the connection and slowness issues. If
you are currently having issues with SSL, it would be best if you
could use non-SSL until we have completed these upgrades.
Speed/Connection
Issue Resolved
November
10, 2007-10:28pm--We have isolated and solved the speed/connection
issues and things should be better now. We found an upstream link
that was near capacity that was causing problems.
Unlimited Accounts Now
Available
October
12, 2007-11:08pm--We have added the Unlimited Plan to our packages.
The price is $24.99 per month--8 simultaneous connections--Super
Hi-Speeds--SSL.
Upgrade
now to avoid having to reload.
Secure Access (SSL)
October
04, 2007-8:05pm--We now have SSL (secure access) online. To access
through the secure server, point your newsreader to:
securenews.meganetnews.com
Access
is available through Ports 443, 563
and 8080.
"Monthly Cap
Reached"
October
04, 2007-6:52am--Many of you are maxing your allotments and don't
know why. Here are some reasons and 'fixes' we have implemented to
help adjust for this problem.
The
new system now has well over 100+ days of binaries retention, over 3 times
the former speed and almost perfect completion. Because it is an
entirely new system, the 'read' pointers submitted by your reader
before the relocation and upgrade no longer are in place. This would
cause you to download ALL of the articles/headers for the last 100+
days in a very short period of time. Once your reader recognizes the
new 'read' pointers, you should no longer have this problem. You can
also mark the older articles as 'read' in your newsreader and they
will no longer be included in your header downloads.
To
continue the 'Free headers' policy we have always offered, we have
added bandwidth to your monthly allotment to compensate for the
header (xover) downloads. This was calculated as a percentage'
addition so it is not an exact science...but should be adequate to
cover most xover downloads once your new 'read' pointers are in
place.
Because
of some data corruption when uploading data to the new system,
RolloverGigs were lost. These credits are no longer available. We
apologies for this inconvenience. We are working to implement new
software to restore this feature in the new system but currently, we
can not offer rolloverGigs.
GB Reloads and Upgrades
September
27, 2007-6:10pm--You may now upgrade or add bandwidth to your
account. If you have maxed your allotment and wish to add more GB's
or change your Plan, you can now go to the order page, fill in all
of the required information and submit. If you are refilling your
account, put your current plan in the 'choose Plan' field and choose
'GB Reload'. If you are changing your Plan, put your NEW plan in the
'choose Plan' field and choose 'Upgrade'. This is still a manual
process so please don't be too impatient if the changes don't take
effect immediately.
Projects
September
27, 2007-1:55pm--We will now be working on the other features and
tools to attempt to get them up and running as soon as possible.
These are some of the items we are working on:
Adding
and upgrading bandwidth amounts: Currently we are unable to add
bandwidth to your account. Most accounts will automatically set a
new amount the first of every month. We are working to get this set
to the anniversary date of your monthly account as well as adding of
additional bandwidth. Currently, all we can do is upgrade your
account to a 25GB account IF you have a 2GB account
RolloverGigs:
Because of the problems we had with uploading accounts to the new
server, credits did not make it. We are working to try and get the
RolloverGigs program to work with the new system so that any credit you
have now will turn over to the new cycle.
Automated
Subscriptions and user Manager Tool: Right now, ALL new
subscriptions have to be entered by hand. Current users do not have
a manager tool to check their accounts. We are working on a new
script that will incorporate new subscriptions and current account
holders with their accounts and 'instant access'.
Connection Issues
September
24, 2007-4:34pm--If you are having problems connecting, first make
sure that your newreader is pointed to: news.meganetnews.com
or news1.meganetnews.com. The IP addresses no longer exist.
Set your access port to: 119 as the SSL option has not been
activated yet. If you had access but do not anymore, then you have
probably maxxed out your allotment for the month, your account will
refill on October 01 or on your monthly anniversary date (we are
working to get ALL accounts to reload on their Monthly anniversary
date). Once the management system is up, you will be
able to add more bandwidth. Right now, we are expending all our
efforts on getting everyone online with the servers. Once we have
completed this task, we will concentrate on the individual issues
such as these. We will get this sorted out soon. Sorry for the
temporary inconvenience. Right now we are working on being able to
manually add more bandwidth upon request. They should have that
fixed in the next day or so. If you have checked all of the above
and still do not have access, please go to:
https://p12.secure.hostingprod.com/@meganetnews.com/ssl/update_form.html
So that we may
activate your account for you right away.
The current
problem is that the acct managing tool is still not online so all
problem accounts have to be looked up on hard copy (a BIG stack).
Please fill in
ALL required fields (*Red). You will NOT be billed
for this submission. This is only for our records to help us find
your account to correct your access problem. Be sure to give us
your current username and password as well as an active email
address. Be sure that you do not have SPAM filters on this address
or make sure that support@meganetnews.com is allowed.
Relocation and Upgrade of
System and Service
September
18, 2007-4:17pm--Sometime between Wed. the 19th and Mon. the 24th,
our server farm will be relocated. During this time, the entire
system will be offline, including the website, servers and email. We
apologize for this inconvenience. The process should take no more
than 3 to 5 days. Again, sorry for the temporary inconvenience.
